Soup Social Butterflies

It’s been a week of parties and socialising here at Soup HQ. Thursday marked the completion our new pool party themed courtyard and we celebrated with a few drinks, some fantastic food and mingled with our neighbours. This afternoon we’re heading to London fields to hang out with the cool kids for our Mad Hatter’s tea party summer extravaganza. Details have been kept strictly confidential as to the sports day events we’ll be taking part in, but one thing’s for sure; there’ll be an array of outlandish headgear and bizarre drinking vessels on show.

Penny Wars for Japan

Creatives Holly and Hanja have come up with a novel way of raising money for Japan – inter-departmental Penny Wars. Each department has a change bottle and every penny counts for one point. But there’s a twist: pound coins and notes count negatively, allowing staff to scupper rival departments. So far the planners are winning, but it could all change at the drop of a hat. Or a two-pound coin.

Skive at London Fashion Week

Our sister agency Skive is playing an exciting role at London Fashion Week, supporting the British Fashion Council’s new digital innovation strategy.

Skive have designed and built a mobile tagging app (http://www.gettag.mobi/) using Microsoft TAG Technology, the first time Microsoft has used TAG in the UK for a consumer audience.

By downloading the tag reader app, then scanning the tag (shown above) on a smartphone, attendees will be directed straight to a mobile website showing the real-time show and event schedule, including notifications of late-running shows, maps for getting to venues, and the latest London Fashion Week news. The schedule is updated on-site in real time through an easy to use administration panel.

The tag is featured on the giant LED screen in the front of the British Fashion Council Show Space and on other screens located throughout the venue. Attendees can also scan the tag from flyers and stickers available on site.

Projection mapping

3D projection mapping has been lighting up our urban landscapes in the last few months. Ralph Lauren celebrated 10 years of ralphlauren.com by projecting a fashion show on their flagship store in London and Toyota promoted their Auris Hybrid car by using 3D projection mapping on the car itself.

However, Tron's promotions stunt looks the most fun!In this case projection mapping was used to track skateboarders. Each rider had an iPod touch that was used to track speed and air time to create added effects projected in real time.

F-commerce

ASOS continues its crusade to tempt me in to buying more clothes by launching a fully transactional and stocked shop on Facebook later this month. Soon spotting a post about the latest trends from ASOS on my wall will mean I’m only a click away from purchasing them, dangerous times!
ASOS is not the only brand to explore the power of f-commerce. From Max Factor to Pampers brands are integrating shops into their Facebook profiles. Have a look at our presentation http://www.slideshare.net/mrtomollerton/the-future-of-social-commerce to find out how other brands are exploring the new world of social commerce.

Hyper Helpers

A couple of months ago our Creative Directors, Steven and Louis ventured to Swedish Podge and during their visit were approached by 8 Hyper Island students who asked to spend a week working with us as part of their course.

Our #hyperhelpers arrived this week and are working on briefs from 2 charities to help them tackle their problems. Of course it’s not all work we’re also helping them explore London, favourite suggestions so far are the Last days of decadence or the Lounge Lovers for tomorrow night..
